RESEARCH AND TOOLS

In Dreamtown, we like to learn. That’s why we engage in different kinds of research relevant to the context of our work, projects, and partnerships, and develop different tools that we can use in our engagement with youth in cities. Feel free to dive in, learn together with us, and make use of some of our tools and resources. We are always curious to know more - see something you find interesting? SURVEY BASELINE REPORT AND CALL FOR ACTION: Creating space for young people in urban slums of Sierra Leone

The report examines multiple dimensions of well-being of youth in Sierra Leone, drawing on the baseline survey, with a particular focus on public spaces. The baseline survey was co-designed by the project’s partners, and survey data collection conducted by students and staff from the University of Makeni.

This climate vulnerability assessment is part of our collaboration with Network for Active Citizens on youth-led climate action and green spaces in the city. The assessment covers the communities Katwe, Kirombe, Kunya, Kitintale, Kinawataka, Kyebando and Kirombe. Findings guide our advocacy work and improve our understanding of the communities’ vulnerability to effects of the climate crisis. We advocate for adaptation strategies that are inclusive - and increased resources to tackle the challenges.

Toolkit for participatory mapping and co-design in youth-led urban design processes

This toolkit has grown out of a pilot for testing tools for youth-led mapping- and design processes in Bonga Town, Freetown, Sierra Leone. The toolkit will help you to facilitate workshops for youth-led mapping- and design processes. It gives an overview of the steps of the process and inspiration for tools and exercises to use. It is important to note that the toolkit is dynamic, and it will continue to grow; more tools will be added, the existing ones will be refined as we gain more knowledge about the process.

Dreamtown's SDG Challenge - Youth for Urban & Social Change

Through the SDG Challenge, we aim to establish a space for the voice of young activists to come forth and shape the communication and framing of development contexts - and learn about developing ideas and projects as solution to urban challenges. The Handbook provides information and tools required to conduct the case challenge by Dreamtown and potentially other NGOs interested.
